Port scores 89-86 victory over Crows: “‘Any time we play the Crows it’s always a tight game and we are really pleased to get the result,’ Williams said.”
may be hot and dry and it may not feel like footie season but the traditional Port/Crows match got it up and running for us last night and what a close fought match it was. AFL has a big following and it makes a lot of people happy. It’s a family tradition for many Australians. Sport and following sport can do you the power of good. Well, last night Port Power won by 3 points so it was a great way to kick off the season. The players are looking fresh and fit but Port has got a very slick edge at the moment. Sport contributes so much to our wellbeing. For a start it was something to really look forward to at the end of the week. The players know they are going to be really valued if they play well and will get lots of support if they did a good job. Some people can look forward to seeing it live and can enjoy the electric atmosphere and those home viewers often gather family and friends around and make it a social event. It’s a good foil to brain numbing work and work which is increasingly paper shuffling and key punching. There’s something really human and dynamic about sport and it can be such an inpiration even if you cannot play as well as others. It can light up the eyes of little children and get them to dream their dreams and it can make others just really appreciate someone who can play that well. Admiration…and then, you can yell your lungs out if you want to! Great tension buster!!
