Group hug, group hug, group hug!! And well deserved too because the Blues had battled the hill, the Commando, injuries and morale to get that fantastic win last night. Jules is a great example of how you just take all the massive knocks in life and, with a little help from your friends, you just quietly get on with it. She’s had her heart condition to contend with as well on the show, but she’s just let herself be open to the genuine affection and support which is offered and quietly drawn strength from it and Shannan. She doesn’t demand it, but now she can see her way clear to fighting for herself because her team mates and trainer have helped her. Same with Laura. What an awesome weightloss that was. She is young. She doesn’t lack courage but she can get muddled. The team pulls her through and lends support and then she puts in a full on effort. Damien is incredible. What an inspiration to those who really are overweight. Shannan got so excited when “190+ kilos of man” was pounding at 15.1 on the treadmill. Shannan just went off!! Damien just gets in there and busts his gut and Mel was the one who held out her hand to get him that last bit up the hill. It wasn’t her physical strength, but her emotional strength she lent him, just so he wouldn’t give up because he was so close to the top. Mel understands the training needs of others. She has an instinct for it and a nice way of getting in and supporting others. Marty too…look at his flat stomach and his will to do well for himself and the team. A complete commitment to health and vitality as has Greg. Greg has adopted a very common sense, down to earth steady approach where he realises he just needs to stay hard working and stable to reap the rewards for himself and his team. Courtney has his eye firmly fixed on the game strategies and the money. It is his raison d’être but as a young person he is starting to learn that self esteem, self respect, being your own personal hero are really things of value. Whether he will learn they are of better long term value remains to be seen. He really was genuinely impressed with himself last night and that is the first time I have seen him value himself and what he can achieve. Alex looks fantastic and given he had sleep apnoea and was really in need of being in the house, it is great to see him come such a long way and looking so well. Sam? How calm and serene is she? She , too, has benefited herself by working towards her health and fitness goals. She really is a picture of health and last night was so good because we got to see all the positives which come out of the aims of the programme. The trainers are expert. They have proven their worth. Who would question them?
