The Biggest Loser 2007

Same show, similar challenges but a different outcome for me. Last night I felt the 3 of them achieved something they never thought they would and had their eyes opened to how a new you looks. Tonight I felt the 3 of them were so terrified they would not have known what they were doing except facing terror and overcoming it and eventually drawing strength from that down the track. Delayed reaction character building. Tonight they were totally traumatised facing their fears and they really felt terror. They really stood on the edge and walked up to their fear and looked it hard in the face. That takes longer to have its impact on you because the first thing you have to do is recover from the total blotting of yourself into nothingness. Apart from all the Munnalita on and on and on …and on and on and on…she was incredibly brave. She is a frightened little girl trying to learn to be an adult and tonight she realised her behaviour had done a lot of damage and that was a massive insight. She has done a lot of damage to others because she is such a hurt little girl. Simone de Beauvoir said, “on ne naît pas femme, on le devient”…you are not born a woman, you become one. It’s a rite of passage. Munnalita hasn’t had that right and neither has Patti. She too is learning to be a woman. Kim is a woman and knows how to be one but she is hampered by entrapment. She has money, she has position, but she doesn’t have the freedom to put her feet where she wants to and that’s what she needs. She needs to know she can control the outcome of her life. Munnalita needed to learn she can be strong and capable and not little and incompetent. Patti needed to learn independence and a capacity to fend for herself so she could be a woman in her own right. She was terrified. She went ahead anyway and survived. The surviving will hit her later that she did that by herself and managed by herself. As for Damien, well, he needs to be encouraged. He needs to be able to say I can’t, I can’t , I can’t and then, all of a sudden, he finds the strength to do it and do better than the challenge he was given. Hauling his amount of weight up a vertical cliff was a tough call. He needs to get the one step forward two steps back into perspective and he did. Sometimes it is just how life is and you just have to keep going forward till you get the momentum of a positive force and he can do that. Shannan nearly lost it and started telling him, but in the end, Shannan reached into himself and drew out a surprise bag of tricks to get his job done. The trainers are being challenged too. Michelle had to go to the bottom and watch Munnalita and talk from a distance. You could see that was hard for Michelle but she drew strength from inside herself to get Munnalita to where she wanted to be…but now it’s going to be a massive challenge and someone going home. Could be any of them and it seems so harsh. My choice would be Chris because I think he is in the right spot for some expert help to get his head working the right way. I don’t think he can change himself now without that help because he gets it but needs professionals to get him working on the stuff which he has confronted.
