Guardian helping out: “Help keep children around the world a little warmer this winter by becoming a Guardian Angel Knitter today!”
Last year we took part in this at work for the first time. About nine of us got the knittings book, got out our needles, begged and bought good wool and knitted our way through winter. It was really exciting because we knitted in break times and an experienced knitter like me could help the newbies and somehow I seemed to be the only one who crotcheted, thanks to my Grandma, so I finished off a lot fo the garments. It was such a team effort and felt really good. We made two blankets , lots of baby jackets, vests and booties and some lovely jumpers for older children. It really did give us a warm and toastie feeling last winter and livened us all up. Doing good things just makes you feel so much brighter and happier. The achievement in Australia last year was very impressive and it’s detailed here:
We have just started the wool gathering for this year but we are also happily knitting again. We start with the blankets and then do the other things as fillers until the time is up. It usually runs from June to August.
You don’t have to stop there, though. You can keep your needles clicking for all sorts of good causes, like the link to knitting for Melbourne’s needy on this site:
