Contemporary Drama

Concerns persist
No one seems to suffer
From moral apprehension
Or deep-seated conflict
About humanity
No one contemplates the present
And the way in which
The social fabric can be mended
We are a study
In avoiding eloquent complexity
We take no hold on formal questions
We watch each day
As the tragic drama unfolds
How the form asserts itself
Questions arise
Only to be dissipated
Into vagueness and mystery
The love of logic dematerialises
Confusion and co incidence
Assume importance
The world of personal being
And becoming
Subjugated to implications
Of the present
Of which we only insist
A fleeting understanding.
