Soft drinks put heart ‘at risk’

Soft drinks put heart ‘at risk’ : “They found adults who drink one or more soft drinks a day had about a 50 per cent higher risk of metabolic syndrome — a cluster of risk factors such as excessive fat around the waist, low levels of ‘good’ cholesterol, high blood pressure and other symptoms.”

This is a really significant study because it involves 6000 people over four years and the damage from soft drinks is quite significant. There is also the issue for us of the amount of water it takes to produce soft drinks. Better to stick to the 8 glasses of water a day and the lovely herbal teas! A twist of lime or lemon always works wonders in water.
