Warped Vision

Long before the day is done
We see a perfect life
The plans are laid
The roles are cast
The script is written
Every piece has its place
Every person their speech
We rarely consider
The options and possibilities
Which could be reflected
In twenty four unscripted hours
We see the imperfections
And failings
As we push the actors
Through our theatrical marvel
We ignore the values
Of past experience and yesteryear
We inspect each portion
Of our play
With a critical eye
We chivvy, push, insist
And then declare
It’s all too hard
Because we will not trade
Our vision of perfection
For spontaneous
Innovative elegance.
