AdelaideNow… Gen-X bosses the best – survey: “‘Those aged between 46 and 26 have a totally different skill set to previous generations, and in terms of employees, working for them certainly has its benefits,’ Ms Mabikafola said.”
There is a lot of information and research coming out about Gen X and gen X. Rightly so. They are the next generation and they will make their mark. Baby boomers are children of WW2 parents and so they tend to be very authoritarian in their approach. Gen Xes are their children and they have some of that cut and dried approach but they are the haves and they have been the centre of the universe , have been well loved and given a lot of skills and talents. You’d expect them to be able to take control and have a sense of fun. The Gen X parents around the place seem to have a better balance. You hear them in the supermarkets and they are very firm and very fair. They don’t rant. They don’t lecture. They are incredibly rational and patient and you hear them including their children in decisions and choices. Baby boomers also are parenting Gen Y children because some baby boomers gave birth in their 30s. These children are early 20s and causing concern because of their erratic behaviour. They too have plenty of skills but they are self absorbed. Baby boomers relate to Gen X and Gen X bridge the gap to the Gen Y people. In the end it will work out and it will be different .It has to be better if they can rid the world of drudgery , workaholism and bring back a sense of balance and fun.
