Thirty-something women ‘stressed out of their minds’

Thirty-something women ‘stressed out of their minds’: “Marina Crook, editor of Top Santé magazine, who commissioned the study, said: ‘When thirty-something women say they are ‘tired and stressed out of their minds’ they probably are. Tiredness and stress are the ailments of our age.”

Juggling home, work, and personal relationships is very tough. It can bring you to cracking point and it can have long term effects because the demands of these three areas of life grow as the career demands more, the children become older and relationships hit difficult patches. We do need to have a good look at how women build their lives and how they can manage better. For a while they were having their children later. Now they seem to have swung back to their 20s. Some are working part time and maybe the generation coming through is more balanced in its approach. It is about balance and working out just how much money and how many things you need to be happy. It’s about priorities and it’s about harmony. Women have gained a lot by participating in the work force and they contribute well, but the labour intensive part of their life is not yet resolved. We don’t actually want to go back to when women were stuck indoors with washing and ironing because a lot of those women were undervalued, depressed and miserable. We need to get the mix right.
