Restless legs linked with heart problems

Restless legs linked with heart problems: study : “The researchers found that people with restless legs syndrome were more than twice as likely to have heart disease or stroke. This finding remained even after adjusting for several factors, including obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol levels and smoking.”

Certainly worth following up and knowing. If it is true that restless legs are an indicator of heart disease and stroke then it’s good in the sense there is an early warning signal which people can act on. The difficulty might be that until the medical profession accepts there is enough research to prove this is a reliable guide, then the more expensive diagnostic heart condition tests may not happen. I am not sure if there are tests to check whether there is a stroke pending. I guess you could look at the other risk factors. I used to get restless legs as a child. Surely it’s not just a sign of heart conditions? I also thought it was a lack of some vitamin or mineral. I haven’t had them since I was little but they drive you nuts! The Restless Legs Syndrome has a strong support network.

Vitamin E and magnesium are supposed to help. I always got told to eat more green , leafy veggies!
