Forget the holiday, just watch the DVD

Forget the holiday, just watch the DVD : “In that way we may ‘even find our own backyards no less interesting’ and we might ‘learn to become travellers around our everyday lives’.”

People travel to regenerate and to find new sights and sounds and there is this notion that you cannot be as happy in your own back yard. We lead a joyless existence in many ways and think we have to be elsewhere in order to let go, break free, find stimulation. It means we rack up the carbon units, we lower the bank balance and it also means we take our own environment for granted and believe it is uninspiring. Time to find ways and means of putting joy into our own daily routine. Time to lighten up and time to dream the dreams at home. It’s unfortunate ,really, that our own lives are not good enough and are seen as second best because that is where we live most of the time.
