Call to head off diabetes epidemic

Call to head off diabetes epidemic : “PREVENTION is the key to tackling Tasmania’s unenviable status of having the nation’s highest rate of diabetes, says the state’s director of public health.”

Diabetes seems to be a lifestyle thing because it becomes prevalent in countries with commercialised food…same as obesity does. People who eat normal, non manufactured food don’t seem to be subject to these civilised diseases. I think we need to do more than target the states, the nations and the people. We need to target our food. We really need to get down to the bottom of what is causing this because it has sprung up all of a sudden and it is worrying…and it has to be what we are eating because young people are getting it too. I think we need to start getting serious about what goes in our mouths and where our food is coming from. We are not civilised if we cannot keep ourselves and our children healthy.
