Calorie counts for the Big Apple: “The new regulation, which takes effect in March, applies to any chain that operates at least 15 separate outlets.”
Interesting thought that food chains would include calorie counts on their menus and yet this is not unreasonable nor a bad thing. It would actually be a good idea in all restaurants. Some restaurants here offer a “light” selection and are kind enough to identify the dishes which weigh you down less. Then there are the ingredients and nutritional value of menu items. I guess, with technology, we ought to be able to deliver all of that information if people want it. Not everyone would want it, but it’s a good idea which we need to make easy on the restaurant owners. Some people would find it a big chore to do that kind of research on their menus . There might be other organisations and bodies which could as part of their research or job specifications. If we are serious about people wanting to lose weight and choose healthy options, we have to get the information out to them.
