Hands-free CPR machine ‘could triple heart attack survival’

Hands-free CPR machine 'could triple heart attack survival': “‘I would think from the studies I’ve seen, something like a doubling or tripling in the number of survivors from cardiac arrest is achievable with this device,’ he said.”

Obviously the machines have to be in the hands of experts. Hopefully they can become more widely available and used. The cost and training will determine that. We have to deal with the fact a lot of people do not recognise heart attack symptoms in others, the victims themselves do not recognise a a heart attack and then it is a matter of getting prompt and successful treatment. If we could nail those three things more people would live. One family member died before Christmas because he didn’t register he was having a heart attack and neither did his wife. The other family member lived and survived massive heart surgery because he was alert enough to ring for medical opinions…and then fought for his life. The ambulance staff saved him by being prompt and on the ball. We have just got to get better at this.
