People blind to their own drink binges

People blind to their own drink binges : “But despite exceeding the limits by such a wide margin, most people — 79 per cent — neither thought they had an alcohol problem, nor considered themselves binge drinkers, according to the survey carried out for the Alcohol Education and Rehabilitation Foundation (AER).”

This is not news to anyone who has had to live with someone who drinks to excess. Lying, self deception, mood changes and delusion are all part and parcel of the drinker. You cannot reason with them because they are not able to see the truth. Excess alcohol does a lot of damage to the person and to their friends and family. it’s actually nice to have a Prime Minister who is prepared to tackle one of our social ills. Tackling drugs will be a much harder, scarier proposition. Drugs and alcohol are tearing us apart and must be costing various nations a small fortune. The excesses of people are creating havoc…at home, at school, in the work place, in the community. They are burning up time, energy and money. They are creating stress and distress , so yes, we do need leadership which can at least make a real effort to get the balance back.
