Sick workers cost the economy

Sick workers cost the economy : “It pinpoints Tasmania’s comparatively higher rates of smoking, obesity and ailments like heart conditions, as well as an ageing population which is more predisposed to disease and injury.”

Yes, sick workers do cost the economy but they cost society too. It sounds like they are depressed and/or sick. I think it is worth investigating properly since Tasmania is its own island state and there may be things affecting it which are not affecting us. Any community which is deteriorating needs to be investigated because a lot of people are simply not coping and it is the system which is the problem not the people.
