Homelessness set to worsen as economy bites back – BrisbaneTimes

“To have 105,000 people who are homeless on any one night in a country as wealthy and as prosperous as Australia is atrocious.”

This is something which is affecting us all. in Adelaide we have a very successful socks and jocks campaign to get socks and underwear for the homeless. A local radio was driving the motivation and awareness. It is something we can all do something about because these are people who can be helped easily . OzHarvest has also been operating to bring the homeless food and the Choir of Hard Knocks gave the situation a lot of publicity and helped to change our headset. We need a practical approach. It has been brought about by rising home prices, job loss, escalating food costs and then too many peole find they simply cannot afford to live. It is inexcusable but we have kept it in the limelight this year and we need to keep it out there in the open until we solve it. No one in this country should be without a home and basic necessities. We need more practical things to do that we as a community can support.
