He said that if a way to reduce methane emissions from livestock wasn’t found, seven million cattle and 36 million sheep could be replaced by 175 million farmed kangaroos.

Luckily kangaroo meat is tasty and low in cholesterol but emissions trading is going to make gas, electricity, diesel and petrol prices rise. This has implications for families on a tight budget so we are going to have to team up and show people how to manage this. I can see some people sitting in the cold and dark and their lives will be miserable. I can see some people having to do without protein. It will be a balancing act. It is important we look now at what options there are for a sane and healthy lifestyle under emissions trading.
