Acts of Kindness

We have found out through our bushfire situation in Victoria that acts of kindness are the things which are giving us all courage, endurance and resilience. We have been reinforcing each other with planned and unplanned acts of kindness ever since the severity of the impact of the fires was clear to us. So many have rush to the aid of the Victorians. Some with goods, some with services, some with money, some with skills and some with the right words at the right time and a big shoulder to cry on. Since it happened we have been far kinder to each other. We have been noticing and praise and encouragement have abounded. It has made us happier, stronger and better able to deal with this because it relies on all of us to keep going forward to ensure the Victorians can get back on their feet. We are not daunted. We have made very sure that people remain strong and that they can see positives every day. We are lucky in that we can communicate every quickly and so we have used our networking capacities all day and everyday to keep the strength going. And so it has become obvious that perhaps this is a better way to behave all the time. You really get the best out of people and it has the effect of keeping the general outlook positive. It has been a great lesson in human warmth and how much good it does. We are all better for it even though there are some pretty grim realities so many  have to face. The human warmth cannot fix the pain or repair the damage but it can buffer the blow.
