Fluoride may affect fertility

“We conclude that fluoride treatment is associated with testicular disorders, which may be due to induction of oxidative stress in reproductive organs along with possible adverse effects of fluoride on pituitary testicular axis. The detailed mechanism of fluoride treatment on the male reproductive system has not been elucidated and will be the subject of future experiments ” (Ghosh et al 2002).
This website discusses some of the studies into fluoride exposure and its effects on the reproductive system , especially in men. For some reason it has become a topic of discussion in Adelaide. probably because our water is always a topic for discussion. You can smell the chlorine, it is harsh and when you go interstate you revel in your shiny hair and your soft clothes. We also have fluoride in our water and some filters filter it out and some don’t. We have it to promote healthy teeth. Fluoride in the water does promote healthy teeth. We have all heard the one about Bromide int he tea and laughed at that but now we are wondering about the effects of fluoride in the water. There don’t appear to be any clear directions to follow and we need them. How much is too much? What ARE the effects of long term fluoride use? When people start talking there is usually a reason and maybe the desal plant is on our minds. We thought we’d be using it for our drinking water and what a relief that would have been. Information is what we need and this website discusses US water studies and we need local ones.

  1. Actually, there are many studies showing that long time ingestion of fluoride is detrimental to human health. Unfortunately the politics of organized dentistry funded by corporations who benefit from tooth decay and fluoride sales is what keeps fluoridation alive.

Recently, a New York State Department of health study showed that more premature births occur in fluoridated areas as opposed to non fluoridated areas of New York State.

Very little money is allocated to study fluoride's adverse health effects. So proponents might tell you more study is needed but that means you and your family are their guinea pigs.

Fluoride is neither a nutrient nor essential for healthy teeth. It's a drug that should never have been administered via the water supply.

It's time that citizens that back their water supplies from the special interest groups

  2. Yes, I was reading how some research in America had related birth problems to water fluoridation. I really appreciate your comments, It is important we get the facts and information and that our water is routinely tested and checked. It is our water, so your last point is very well said.
