Don’t take sleeping tablets

“DVT is a very rare cause of death in travellers; however, even small clots can damage the lungs permanently and mean you have to take long term anti-clotting drugs, which disrupts your lifestyle and exercise tolerance.”

Sleeping tablets have been implicated in the death of a woman on a long haul flight. She died of deep vein thrombosis and it is believed the sleeping pill contributed because she didn’t move . Moving around as you fly is important. I have blogged about travel health before. I feel deeply sorry for this woman and her family and friends because she did what quite a few long haul passengers do.It is really important we pay attention to our health on flights and now we have another piece of information to alert us to the fact we need to keep the blood circulating around our bodies as we fly. The article provides more information about how we can look after ourselves when we have long distances to fly. We need to take heed.
