Sister Cities

Adelaide is the sister city of Christchurch. As a sister city we have been able to offer up to 200 places for Canterbury students to study with us while the earthquake disrupted city is trying to manage a whole myriad of tough calls. Part of the impact of an earthquake is that young people can find themselves in limbo when it comes to their future direction. At least now , those students who want to keep their studies going so they can return home and pick up the rest of their studies in NZ when their university and city are safe and ready, have a chance to do so. Sister cities have a good role to play in helping smooth the path to the future for their sister city counterparts. It also means these young people have a chance to recuperate a bit from the trauma. Their city is still suffering aftershocks. They had a quake in September and then the bad one recently and there is only hope at the moment that this will all settle down. As a sister city we can help put some stability back into people’s lives. They cannot keep living in trauma and it is a nice way we can help out.
